5,000 visitors enjoy Southam living history weekend

On August 17th and 18th a spectacular living history event took place in Southam town centre inspired by the Battle of Southam, a major skirmish at the start of the English Civil Wars in 1642.

Wandfluh UK, based in Southam, were proud to be sponsors of one of competing battalions in the re-enactments of the famous battle.
The town was transformed for two days into a 17th Century village. Performers, musicians, pedlars and re-enactors mingled freely with the crowds and created a wonderful atmosphere. The weather was good and around 5,000 visitors enjoyed the spectacle.

Feedback from residents, visitors and local businesses alike was extremely positive. The event was an outstanding success in terms of its twin aims of raising awareness of Southam and its role in the English Civil Wars, and bringing visitors into the town.

Many congratulations to all concerned.
